Mrs. Nancy “Lorene” Oakley Blake, age 84 of North Wilkesboro passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 29, 2024, at her home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church (Hwy. 115) with Rev. Randy Campbell and Rev. Rodney Blake officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church.   Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was born on February 2, 1940, to William Boyden and Joyce Felts Oakley.  Lorene was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School.  She was a Housewife, Mother and Grandmother.  Nothing made her happier than for family, friends, and especially her grandkids to come by.  They always enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies, milkshakes and especially the homemade ice cream she made so well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Oakley, and Clara Pendergrass; and two brothers, Bruce Oakley, and Ronnie Oakley. 

Lorene is survived by her husband, Gary Newton Blake of the home; two sons, Rodney Blake and wife Diane of North Wilkesboro, and Chad Blake and wife Brenda, of North Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Heath (Kelli), Tyler (Emily), Joshua, Hannah, Seth and Luke; five great grandchildren, James, Beau, Charlie, Breah and Bryce; and seven sisters, Sue Kivett and husband Larry of Greensboro, Mable Gregory and husband Willie of North Wilkesboro, Ruby Walker and husband Ray of Marietta, GA, Betty Smithey of Troutman, Wanda Wilson of North Wilkesboro, Linda Moore and husband Ken of Ashe County and Bonnie Billings of Troutman; and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Ann Hinson and Teresa Bowlin for the special care they gave Lorene for the past few months.
