Richard "Dean" Craven

Mr. Richard “Dean” Craven, age 82 of Roaring River, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

A memorial service will be held 5:30 PM Monday, June 10, 2024, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Victor Church and Rev. Brett Graham officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 5:15 PM prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

Mr. Craven was born October 19, 1941, in Wilkes County to Johnie Vernon and Blanche Violet Bauguess Craven.  He was a driver for the NASCAR Baby Grand National team in the  70’s.  Dean was the race winner at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 1976.   More importantly he was a dedicated father and pawpaw, a devoted husband.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Ruth Reins Craven; one son, Michael Craven; and one brother, Ray Craven.

He is survived by one daughter, Robin Kipp (Dusty) of Roaring River; one son, Steven Craven (Beth) of Cranberry Township, PA; two grandchildren, Levi Ray and Leah Adams (Gavin); one sister-in-law, Shelby Craven, of Kannapolis; and long-time family friend, Craig Poist of Ronda.
